Q: What camera + lens do you use?
I shoot on a Canon 5D Mark III, and use both a Canon 24-70mm 2.8 lens and an L-series 50mm 1.2 lens.
Q: How do you edit your photos?
I spent years hand-editing using Adobe Lightroom. In that time I developed my go-to editing styles that have since become the Local Milk Preset Collections! Now I use the LM presets as a jumping off point for my images, and I fine tune from there. They work on both Desktop and Mobile versions of Lightroom, so I can always edit on-the-go! If you’d like to learn a lot more about how I edit, consider coming to a workshop or retreat! You can find out more information on those here [add link]. To learn more about the Local Milk Preset Collections, you can find and shop them here: https://localmilkblog.com/shop !
Q: When are your upcoming retreats?
You can visit Local Milk Retreats to find out everything about our past retreats, future retreats, and see what’s going on right now! You can also join our mailing list here to be notified of all upcoming retreats, workshops, and gatherings before anyone else. We highly recommend this if you’re hoping to attend as they tend to sell out quickly!
Q: What are your rates and availability for sponsored posts and social media?
To inquire about rates and availability contact us here and let us know the scope of work you’re looking for as well as your timeline and budget where applicable.
Q: Do you have any advice for an aspiring blogger or creative professional?
I do. First, start now, don’t wait until x, y, or z. Keep your head down, work hard every day, be authentic & don’t copy the work of others, and focus on nothing but producing the highest quality work you can. Make genuine connections with likeminded people in your field as they cross your path but don’t social climb or try to get ahead with ingratiating behavior. Your work, not who you know, should be what your success is built on. Don’t obsess over social media or numbers, obsess over excellence in your field and the rest will come. If you’re trying to make a living (if you’re fortunate enough to not need to think about finances, disregard this and follow your bliss!), keep the bottom line in mind in tandem with the ethos you want your brand to reflect. I take jobs depending on two factors: is it creatively satisfying to my soul, does it pay enough for me to live the life I want, and does it fit my personal ethos? If either or both of the first two criteria are met within reason, I consider taking the opportunity. The last one is a must. Value your work and others will too. Give credit where credit is due. Acknowledge the people who help and inspire you. And learning how to take a decent photo never hurt anyone whether they’re an aspiring illustrator or metal worker or inn keeper. We live in a visual world, if you can share what you do through photos you’ll more easily reach a bigger audience.

Q: I’m in your town or you’re in mine! Can we meet up?
Unfortunately our life with travel, the little one on the way, and a full work schedule can get a little hectic and as a dyed in the wool introvert, I utilize my little downtime to recharge, so I don’t generally get the opportunity to meet up. I’m sorry!

Q: Would you like to partner to host a retreat or will you come host a retreat in my country?
Generally speaking, we partner with friends and colleagues that we’ve worked with or met before, and we hand pick each location ourselves. If there was infinite time we’d have them everywhere with anyone, but at present most of our locations & partners are already selected.
Q: Can I use your photo and/or recipe?
We ask that you not republish our recipes, but you may use 1-3 photos and link back to the recipe or blog post with credit in the copy if you are a non-profit or another blogger. If you are a for profit business or company, please inquire about rates before using any of our photographs.
